Today, I realized that my father’s weekly unemployment check is more than my bi-weekly pay check. My full time job pays less than my father’s unemployment. FML

Characteristics of a Welfare State, methinks.

In any case, I was walking towards Orchard MRT station today to catch a train, when lo and behold, there were a bunch of stilt performers, all togged out in their costumes and towering over me in their stilts and trapping me with their forest of legs, and handing out brochures about Singapore artsfest 2009!

While their FREE performance is over, there are still other performances to look out for!

Head on to singaporeartsfest.com to check out the events they have!

Personally, it’s been a while since I’ve caught any fireworks and such, so I’ll be looking forward to this particular event!

Crackers?

The World Famous (UK)

An invitation to be brave…

The world is full of risks to be avoided. The economy is collapsing, the climate is changing and fireworks are too loud. YET, life is to be lived, and revealing its beauty requires a risk and venturing into the unkown.

Crackers? is a celebration of the explosive and dangerous beauty of fire and fireworks and an exploration of our attitudes to Risk.

Not for the fainthearted, Crackers? combines fireworks, projection, performance and music. Performed ‘in the round’, with the audience surrounded by fire & smoke, spinning wheels and fireworks. A symphony of pyrotechnic sounds fills the air. It’s loud, disorientating and cacophonous, but there are moments of delicate and profound beauty…dancing flames, giant Catherine Wheels and the ‘human sparkler’…

13 – 14 June, 8pm

Yishun Open Field behind Yishun Bus Interchange, Yishun Central 1

What a unique place to be having fireworks and such at. Here’s one for the Heartland Pridezzz man. Much like azn pride but not. I dont exactly get the word ‘azn’. It stands for Asian right? Is Asian that hard to type? Does the z make it more cool? Can someone enlighten me? I guess I’m just not in with urban slang.

I’d like to take one day to visit as many of the installations as possible.

Adding to my weekend To Do Lists.
